A new campsite in Marondera District 50 kilometers out of Marondera is looking to fill the following positions:-

*CAMP GENERAL HAND*

General Hands to support the daily operations of our campsite in Marondera, Mashonaland East Province. The General Hand will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, functionality, and overall aesthetic appeal of the camp facilities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all campers and staff.
This role requires a strong work ethic, a proactive attitude, and the ability to perform a variety of physical tasks.

*Responsibilities:*

*Cleaning and Housekeeping:*
- Regularly clean and sanitize all camp facilities, including ablution blocks (toilets, showers), communal areas, cabins/tents, kitchen areas (as assigned by kitchen staff), and medical centre.
- Empty waste bins and manage proper waste disposal and recycling according to camp procedures and local regulations.
- Sweep, mop, dust, and tidy common areas daily.
- Ensure all cleaning supplies are stocked and stored safely.

*Grounds Maintenance:*
- Maintain camp grounds, including clearing paths, raking leaves, cutting grass (using appropriate tools), and ensuring pathways are free of obstacles.
- Assist with basic landscaping tasks, such as weeding and planting.
- Ensure proper drainage around facilities, especially during rainy seasons.
- Monitor and report any potential hazards on the grounds.

*Basic Maintenance and Repairs:*
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks around the campsite (e.g., fixing loose fittings, replacing light bulbs, basic plumbing issues like leaky taps, repairing fences).
- Assist skilled tradespeople with more complex repairs when necessary.
- Report any major maintenance issues or structural damage to camp management immediately.

*Setup and Breakdown:*
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of camp facilities before, during, and after camp sessions (e.g., setting up tents, arranging furniture, preparing activity areas).
- Help with loading and unloading supplies and equipment.

*Logistical Support:*
- Assist the kitchen staff with transporting supplies, moving heavy items, and general cleaning of kitchen communal areas as directed.
- Support the medical centre attendant with basic tasks such as cleaning or preparing beds, if required.
- Run errands within the campsite premises as needed.

*Security and Safety:*
- Be vigilant about the security of camp property and report any suspicious activities.
- Adhere to all camp safety protocols and procedures.
- Assist in emergency situations as directed by camp management.

*General Duties:*
- Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by camp management to ensure the smooth operation of the campsite.
- Maintain a respectful and helpful attitude towards campers, staff, and visitors.

*Qualifications:*
- Proven experience in a similar role involving general maintenance, cleaning, or manual labor.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, bending, standing for long periods, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of tools and equipment used for cleaning and maintenance.
- Strong work ethic and a proactive approach to tasks.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Must be available to reside at the campsite for the duration of the camp season.
- Knowledge of basic safety procedures.

*Preferred Qualifications:*
- Experience working in a camp, lodge, or similar remote environment.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, or electrical repairs.

*Working Conditions:*
- This is a residential position requiring the general hand to live on-site at the campsite.
- Work involves both indoor and extensive outdoor activities, exposed to varying weather conditions.
- Flexible working hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as dictated by camp needs.
- Requires physical stamina and manual dexterity.
