Job Description
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Assistant to support and maintain occupational health and safety standards within the company. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with mining safety legislation, company policies, and industry best practices to promote a safe and healthy workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for regularly educating mine personnel on safety standards and safe work practises,
• Participate in the formulation of mine safety rules and regulations,
• Conduct production inspections to stop non-compliance to set safety standard,
• Conduct risk assessments and audits of the organisation's facilities and processes,
• Understand changes in labour safety conditions in workplaces,
• Discover unsafe conditions, hazards and take timely measures to eliminate them,
• Prepare and maintain accurate safety records, statistics, and reports.
• Monitor and analyse data to identify trends and areas for improvement,
• Investigate incidents and injuries and provide detailed reports of findings,
• Assist in the completion of occupational health and environmental protection work in mine production,
• Liaise with mine management, supervisors to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Safety Assistant.
• Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or any related field,
• Certification in First Aid is an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of mining health, safety and environmental legislation, regulations and best practices,
• Valid driver’s license,
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships,
• Strong work ethic, reliability and attention to detail.
