Job Description

Mwenezi Development Training Centre (MDTC) is a local based NGO operating in Mwenezi, Masvingo, Chiredzi, and Beitbridge districts. MDTC implements diversified programs to enhance the livelihoods of vulnerable communities. The following vacant positions are available in our organization.PROJECTS COORDINATOR (Mwenezi x 1)
Reporting to the Programmes ManagerMain Responsibilities
• Has the overall responsibility of coordinating and supervising all organizational community development initiatives, donor programmes and community projects evolving from community needs identification and Community Action Plans. He/She should lead in the designing of appropriate project training materials, supervising and ensuring that the training programmes are conducted in line with the donor and organization expectations. Should produce consolidated plans and budgets as well as project proposals for the community development programmes. Has the role for assisting in expenditure and should be able to manage the department’s human and material resources. He/She should plan and monitor projects and activities carried out at MDTC, including Strategic Business Units, training and development initiatives and donor-funded projects.

Requirements

• 5 O’ level passes including English, Mathematics and Science (Woodwork/ Building/ Metalwork/Fashion and Fabrics is an added advantage).
• Degree in Agricultural Science, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Management, Development Studies, Technical Education, and any Social Science relevant.
• A Certificate or Diploma in Agriculture is a must.
• At least 5 years’ experience in community development work.
• At least 2 years’ management-level experience.
• Must have a Class 4 Driver’s licence/ Class 3 motorcycle licence, or the ability to ride a motorcycle is a must.
• A Human Resource qualification or experience would be an added advantage.
• Must be computer literate and competent.
• A mature person of high self-discipline and a self-motivated individual

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the implementation of development and humanitarian activities and all other field activities, including donor programmes and previous MDTC projects in the district.
• Design a performance monitoring tool to assess and evaluate the performance of staff to achieve set targets in the respective programmes.
• Work closely with District stakeholders on the implementation of donor and MDTC programmes in all the district including membership recruitment drives.
• Ensure monthly joint project visits with government technical stakeholders are conducted for certification of milestones and report timely to the Programmes Manager.
• Produce quality and accurate weekly situational and monthly monitoring reports and share with the Programmes Manager.
• Receive and review detailed reports on the programmes or projects from the field officers for submission to the Programmes Manager.
• Attend Partner coordination and Food Security Working Group meetings at provincial level.
• Monitor all community development projects and report to the Programmes Manager.
• Identify resource persons for particular courses or projects where there is no direct responsible person with expertise within the institution and recommend to the Programmes Manager for consultancy or engagement.
• Design appropriate skills development programmes and training materials to respond to identified needs and ensure their effective implementation.
• Supervise and monitor all training courses taking place in the department using appropriate and effective data capturing tools, producing summary reports and submitting to the Programmes Manager
• Development of project proposal documents for funding and submit to prospective funders.
• Compile and submit quality and accurate monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual reports of all activities in the department.
• Plan and monitor projects and activities carried out at MDTC, including Strategic Business Units and donor-funded projects.
• Scale agricultural productivity in the fields of poultry, livestock, piggery and horticulture.
• Improve accommodation, conference and catering services at MDTC.
• Work closely with the Programmes Manager to ensure MDTC has appropriate management and support systems to implement high-quality programming.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements through a performance-based culture by ensuring that performance management systems are functional in the programmes team.
• Work closely with the Programmes Manager in conducting Area Training Committee Annual Review workshops.
