VACANCY: CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER (COO)
Location: Mutare, Zimbabwe
Allied Timbers Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd, a leading forestry and timber products company, invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced, and results-driven professionals for the position of Chief Operations Officer (COO).
Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Operations Officer will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Company’s operational functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving operational excellence, enhancing productivity, ensuring the sustainable utilization of resources, and delivering the Company’s strategic and financial objectives.

Requirements

and Experience
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Operations Management, Business Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or an equivalent postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
• Membership of a relevant professional body.
• At least 10 years’ senior management experience, including a minimum of 5 years at executive level in manufacturing, forestry, timber, or a related industry.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, operational leadership, financial management, and change management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the Company’s strategic plan.
• Oversee forestry, harvesting, sawmilling, pole treatment, logistics, and related operational functions.
• Drive productivity, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality management standards.
• Prepare and manage operational budgets while maintaining effective cost controls.
• Monitor operational performance through key performance indicators and implement corrective actions where necessary.
• Lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
• Manage operational risks and ensure business continuity.
• Support capital investment projects and operational expansion initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with Executive Management to achieve corporate objectives.
