Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen in a Logistics concern for the position of Workshop Mechanic. The primary focus of the position involves managing and coordinating all service related activities of the workshop to ensure a high level of service and repair work of vehicles and generators for various strategic business units and third party customers with an objective of enhancing company reputation and image. The role involves day to day handling of repairs, overhauls, maintenance and servicing of trucks, light vehicles and generators.

Key Responsibilities:
 Keeping equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune
• ups, oil changes, tyre rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
 Attending to pneumatics and hydraulic problems and rear and front suspension repairs.
 Carrying out brake overhaul and conducting general maintenance and service of trucks and generators.
 Attending to vehicle breakdown and trouble
• shooting all vehicle issues.
 Machine rebuilding & servicing.
 Verifying vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems
 Complying with state vehicle Requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
 Keeping supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders and verifying receipt and quality.
 Containing costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts option.
 Performing engine overhauls including overhead adjustments and engine brake installations.
 Clutch installation and removal including gearbox and differential unit
 Breakdown attendance and heavy vehicle and generator repair & maintenance

Requirements

Requirements, Experience and Desired Skills
 Diploma/Certificate in Motor Vehicle Mechanics
 Class One/Two Journeyman
 Trade Tested
 At least 2 years’ Experience in a similar environment
 Knowledge of Hydraulics and Pneumatics
 Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
 Able to work out of hours and weekends
 Clean Class 2 Drivers License a distinct advantage
 Ability to effectively communicate with all levels
 High concern for order
