• operation with local partner organizations, its task is to contribute to improved income and nutrition for the poorest rural populations in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Welthungerhilfe has been implementing projects in Zimbabwe almost continuously since 1980. Currently, the organization together with its partners has projects in 5 Provinces. Sector focus is on Food and Nutrition security including WASH, and when necessary, Emergency response.

Key Responsibilities:
The Agriculture Production Officer will specifically be responsible for implementation of the field
• based activities of the project including: providing technical guidance on climate
• smart agriculture and agroecological production practices for smallholder farmers; supporting development and delivery of training programs on sustainable production of dryland crops, horticulture, and NTFPs; coordinating the Training of Trainers (To. T) program for Master/Lead Farmers and AGRITEX officers; developing and/or reviewing farmer training materials and information tools using behavior change approaches; supporting pilot implementation of innovative water harvesting technologies from granite formations for irrigation; facilitating quality guarantee attainment including Food Security Standard certification and providing technical support for value chain assessments on selected commodities; supporting the establishment and technical oversight of agribusiness hubs demonstration sites; coordinating integration of emerging agricultural technologies and innovations, working with research partners to facilitate living labs and co
• learning with farmers; supporting assessment and scaling of Conservation Agriculture practices for productivity, adaptation, and mitigation; providing technical guidance on integrated soil fertility management and climate impact modeling; Cooperate with government institutions, non
• government organizations and the local community. Collect and circulate relevant information, disseminate project experiences. Supervise field staff

Requirements

• Diploma in Agriculture or Degree in Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, Animal Science, Crop Science, or any other related field.
• At least 5 years’ proven Experience of supporting rural farmers in the field of Agronomy
• Explicit training and working Experience in Agroecology and Natural Resource Management, including watershed protection measures, and water harvesting, will be an added advantage. Ability to plan and organize work, to be resourceful, and use initiatives.
• Mature judgement and ability to collaborate effectively with Government and community extension structures.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with relevant stakeholders at district level.
• Proven report writing Skills; Excellent communication, interpersonal and ICT Skills.
• Ability to track budgets and oversee generation of financial reports.
• A valid class 4 driver’s license and ability and willingness to ride a motorcycle.
