Every job listing on Everyday Vacancies is automatically evaluated by our quality rating system. Jobs that meet our quality threshold earn the RATED badge — your signal that a listing is detailed, complete, and worth your time.

Why We Rate Jobs

Not all job listings are created equal. Some provide detailed descriptions, clear requirements, and salary information. Others are vague, incomplete, or even duplicated. Our rating system exists to:

  • Save you time — focus on listings that are detailed enough to be worth applying to
  • Reward quality — employers who put effort into their listings get more visibility
  • Improve transparency — you see exactly how complete and informative a listing is
  • Surface the best opportunities — rated jobs appear prominently on the homepage

Think of the rating like a quality stamp. It doesn't tell you if the job is right for you — it tells you the listing itself is thorough and likely trustworthy.

How the Scoring Works

Every job listing is scored automatically across three dimensions. The maximum possible score is 100 points.

Detail Depth

Up to 40 points

We compare the job description and responsibilities sections. Listings with unique, non-duplicated content across both sections score higher. Copy-pasting the same text into both fields scores lower.

Completeness

Up to 35 points

Jobs earn points for including salary information (+12), location (+12), and experience level (+11). The more complete a listing, the higher the score.

Skills Coverage

Up to 25 points

Listings that clearly specify required skills score higher. Up to 5 distinct skills are counted. This helps you quickly know what's needed.

The Quality Threshold

A job must score 70 points or more (out of 100) to earn the RATED badge. Jobs below this threshold still appear in search results and on the job listings page — they just don't get the badge or appear in the "Rated" section on the homepage.

Example Score Breakdown
Criteria Max Example A Example B
Detail Depth 40 36 12
Completeness (salary + location + level) 35 35 12
Skills Coverage 25 20 5
Total 100 91 ★ Rated 29 — Not Rated

What the Rated Badge Means

When you see the gold rated badge on a job listing, it means:

  • The listing has a thorough, original description — not copy-pasted content
  • Key fields like salary, location, and experience level are filled in
  • Required skills are clearly listed so you can self-assess fit
  • The job is not a duplicate of another listing on the platform
  • It passed an automated quality check scoring 70+ out of 100

The numeric score (e.g., Score: 85) is shown alongside the badge on the homepage, job list, and job detail pages. Higher is always better.

Verified Employers

Jobs posted by verified employers on Everyday Vacancies are automatically given the rated badge. This is because:

  • Verified employers have gone through our verification process
  • Their company identity and legitimacy have been confirmed
  • They represent trusted organisations that consistently post quality listings

The full numeric scoring is still calculated by our scoring engine and will appear once the job has been processed. But the rated badge is granted immediately upon publishing.

Salary Estimates

Many jobs don't include salary information. When a listing is missing salary data, our system generates an estimate based on the job title, category, experience level, and market data. These estimates are clearly marked with (est.) so you know they're approximations, not confirmed figures.

About Salary Estimates

Salary estimates are for guidance only. They help you gauge the general range for a role but should not be treated as guarantees. Always confirm compensation directly with the employer.

Tips for Employers: How to Score Higher

Want your listings to earn the rated badge and get featured on the homepage? Here's exactly what to do:

  1. Write unique descriptions and responsibilities.
Don't copy the same text into both fields. Describe what the role involves in the description, and list specific day-to-day duties in responsibilities.
  2. Include salary information.
Even a range (e.g., $800–$1,200) earns you 12 completeness points. Candidates strongly prefer listings with salary info.
  3. Specify the location and experience level.
These two fields alone are worth 23 points. Don't leave them blank.
  4. List at least 5 required skills.
This maxes out your skills coverage score at 25 points. Be specific — "Python, Django, PostgreSQL" is better than "programming skills".
  5. Get verified.
Verified employers automatically earn the rated badge, giving your listings instant visibility on the homepage.
